MCI team visits J N M Hospital and College of Medicines

Krishnanagar (WB), June 4 ,2011 : A three member team of the Medical Council of India visited the J N M Hospital and Kalyani College of Medicines in Nadia district to inspect the infrastructure.

"We were able to put in place about 95 per cent of infrastructure yardsticks before the inspection team of MCI on Thursday and we are awaiting their final report," Superintendent of the referral hospital in the district Dr. Nirupam Biswas said today, a day after the team's visit to the hospital.

The Medical College is an integral part of Kalyani JNM Hospital, now christened as JNM Hospital and Kalyani College of Medicines having two divisions under the same umbrella. The Superintendent of Kalyani College of Medicine, Dr. B R Ghosh claimed the MCI makes routine annual visits to any new medical college in the first five years.

"In their last visit in May, MCI had stated that there was lack of infrastructure and we have addressed almost 95 per cent of the infrastructure bottlenecks," Ghosh said. The newly-carved out Kalyani College of Medicines had its first batch of medical students last year.
